SHORT-TERM NON-DEGREE CHINA STUDY PROGRAM

?

Xi’an International Studies University (XISU)was one of the earliest four national universities specialized in foreign language teaching in China.? After over 65 years, the university has developed into one?? of the national premium universities in the field of humanity, foreign language teaching and international studies.? Situated in the prime location of theancient capital of China, the university is committed???? to the teaching and learning of Chinese language and culture to domestic and international students.?

The School of Chinese Studies began to offer Chinese learning programs in the 1970s and wasone of the earliest institutions of higher learning and research in China for such programs. Taking advantages of the cultural assets of the ancient capital city, Xi’an, the school incorporates Chinese learning classes with field trips to the world-renowned museums, cultural and historic sites. ?Over the last 40 years, more? than 12,500 international students have graduated from the school and the teaching quality has been recognized not only by the Ministry of Education of China but also by thousands of international students who are working with the knowledge gained from the school. Now, it is the only authorized HSKTesting Center (Chinese Efficiency Test) in northwest China.

Besides offering degree programs in Chinese language teaching, the school also provides customized non-degree programs of different types. We sincerely welcome students from all over the world to???????? XISU.?

SHORT-TERM NON-DEGREE STUDY PROGRAM

?

XISUoffers regular short-termprograms in collaboration with many foreign universities and educational institutions on annual basis in the forms of summer or winter camps through Confucius Headquarters/Hanban. We also offertailored short-term credit courses for universitiesfrom Asia, Europe, America, Africa and the Oceania areas. The content of the tailored program can be planned and adjusted in??????????? accordance with mutual negotiation interms of cooperation, study period, target language, and the curricula.? Normally, every 36 hours account for 3 credits according to the university academic system.??????? Participants accomplishing required course hours and tasks will be credited.? We offer two credits on Chinese Culture for all program participants (minimum two weeks) who attend the lectures, cultural?????? activities and? field trips. One more credit will be honored to those who turn in a course essay or take one HSK (Chinese Efficiency).

One-day activity for students to visit rural ? families and their livelihood ??? near Xi’an where the local village is known in ? China for the beautiful paintings. Students can interact with them.

Traditional Chinese tea ceremony is shown and ? knowledge of tea will be? illustrated through the process.

Shaanxi Puppet &Marionettes Show?

Local arts of puppetry are shown by local ? artists and vocalists through a??? traditional performance. Students can ? interact with artists.

The Tang Dynasty Palace Show?

A fantastic show imitating the palace music ? and dances for emperors and ?the imperial families in the Tang Dynasty 1300 ? years ago.

Ceramic Arts Show & Making

Hands-on Experience with local ceramic artists ? to learn how ceramic????? ?works of art are created. A chance to make your own ? souvenirs.?

Chinese Calligraphy

& Traditional Painting

Famous Chinese calligraphers and artists are ? invited to teach Chinese?????? calligraphy, the art of Chinese writing and ? painting.? Outstanding works?? by ? students will be exhibited in the school’s art gallery.???

Seal Carving

One of the four skills ancient Chinese scholars ? must be apt at. Students??? are taught how seals are made.? Each student can have his or her name ?????? carved as a seal for ownership or proofs of arts.

?Folk Music ? and Dance

An opportunity to interact with the famous ? folk dancers and learn some??? ?local folk songs, music and dances.

Performance of Xun

Xun was the earliest blowing musical ? instruments unearthed in a local????? ?village more than 7000 years ago.? An artist is invited to perform.

Dumpling Making

Local foods are well-known throughout the ? world, esp. for its wheat-flour foods. This is an opportunity students are ? invited to parties to make their?? own Jiaozi, a kind of dumpling Chinese ? people must make for special????? ?festivals and ceremonies.
